AltaLink renews commitment to Alberta 4-H’s communications program

Calgary, Alberta – AltaLink has renewed a three-year partnership with Alberta 4-H and will continue as a Legacy Builder and Presenting Partner of 4-H’s communications program. As a result of this partnership, more than 350 clubs across the province will receive funding to develop their members’ public speaking and presentation skills.

“Alberta 4-H provides young Albertans with the tools and resources to grow into confident and capable leaders, said Leigh Clarke, Senior Vice President, External Engagement and General Counsel. “AltaLink is proud to support the communications component of a 4-H member’s development.”

“Just as 4-H strengthens the communities where clubs operate, AltaLink strives to strengthen the areas where we operate by building relationships and supporting the community while providing safe and reliable electrical transmission service,” said Clarke.

As part of the partnership, AltaLink will provide $100,000 in cash and in-kind annual contributions to 4-H’s communications program at the club, district, regional and provincial levels. AltaLink employees will participate in the partnership by volunteering at 4-H events throughout the year.

“AltaLink has been a great supporter of 4-H since 2003,” said Bruce Banks, Chief Executive Officer, 4-H Foundation of Alberta. “Our 4-H alumni say that public speaking and presentation skills are one of the most valuable assets they acquire through the 4-H program. Thanks in part to AltaLink’s support, Alberta 4-H is one of the best youth programs in the country.”

AltaLink, Alberta’s largest transmission provider, is actively working with stakeholders to build new transmission projects, respond to the province’s growth and ensure the transmission system will meet Alberta’s needs today and in the future. New, efficient transmission lines will ensure we all have access to clean wind-generated power and the lowest-priced electricity Alberta has to offer.

Building communities since 1917, Alberta 4-H has been mentoring the youth of this province in the ways of leadership and communication, all the while equipping them with confidence, life-applicable skills and a network of friends that spans the entire country. With 250,000 alumni, 4-H is proud to be the #1 youth organization in the province.
