Recycling electronics is one way to celebrate Earth Day

CALGARY, ALBERTA

On April 22, 2015 people around the world will celebrate Earth Day by participating in activities that help our planet. One Calgary-based organization, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is making its mark: In 2014 alone, they diverted over 1000 tons of unwanted equipment from landfills and donated nearly 800 refurbished computers to Canadian charities. This Earth Day they’re going to be in action at AltaLink, Alberta’s largest electricity transmission provider.

WHAT:
The ERA will be at AltaLink to collect electronics for recycling and is available to talk to media about what it does and how it impacts Calgarians. In 2014, the ERA collected 183 computers, 65 monitors and 15 servers from AltaLink alone for repurposing and recycling.
