The Central East Transfer-Out (CETO) Project is located east of the City of Red Deer and involves 50 kilometres of new double circuit 240 kilovolt transmission line and installing new equipment at the Gaetz Substation. ATCO and AltaLink are working on portions of the CETO project in their respective service territories. AltaLink’s new transmission line will be between AltaLink’s existing Gaetz Substation and ATCO Electric’s approved transmission line.
In July 2024, the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) announced it was investing $283.5M in the CETO project to support the connection of renewable generation projects in Alberta. This investment is expected to save Alberta ratepayers $135M over the 30-year financing of the project.
