The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) has approved both projects that are part of the VATD development, the 610L Transmission Line Replacement in the Municipal District of Taber and the 879L Transmission Line Restoration in Cypress County.

The approved 610L Transmission Line Replacement includes:

• AltaLink’s preferred route to replace the existing 610L transmission line. The new, 14-kilometre long transmission line will be located primarily along Township Road 102 between AltaLink’s Taber Substation (located in SE-18-10-16-W4) and Fincastle Substation (located in SW-15-10-15-W4)
• building approximately 620 to 1,900 metres of temporary transmission line to avoid outages and maintain service during construction activities

The approved 879L Transmission Line Restoration includes:

• modifying and replacing select structures along the existing 879L transmission line in the County of Forty Mile and Cypress County
